BizTown

I'm sure your kids told you all about how awesome BizTown was and how much they learned. We've spent some time reflecting on our experiences at BizTown and how these learning experiences will help us in the future. We are super grateful for the parent volunteers who did training and helped support our students at BizTown and for all the companies who have donated so much to provide a place like JA BizTown. To learn more about BizTown, ask a current Sunset fourth grader!

Northwest Trek

We had such a great time at Northwest Trek on our field trip last week. Students were able to see predators and prey in their natural habitats. The purpose of the field trip was to get students thinking about habitats and food chains since that will be our first science unit we start in a couple weeks.

Field Trip to Northwest Trek

As I’m sure you saw last night, we sent home information about our first field trip- Northwest Trek on September 22nd.  This is such a fantastic field trip that will commence our first science unit- Ecosystems and Food Chains. Please return the permission slip and $15 check made out to Sunset Elementary ASB. For more information, please find the green sheet that went home with your child yesterday.
As of this morning, we have reached our maximum of 4 chaperones for our class. I will make sure that different parents have the opportunity to chaperone for our next field trips.

The students had such a fun time at BizTown. They learned so much and loved doing their jobs and shopping in the city.

Olympia Field Trip

After a quick intro into government, our class went to Olympia, our state's capitol. There we went into the Supreme Court, talked about a real law that was brought before the court and made a decision as a class, similar to the decision the Supreme Court Justices made. We were also able to go into the legislative building and view all sorts of fun things. Here are some pictures from our students.
