Precept- Homework

In Wonder, Mr. Brown shares one precept a month. A precept is a rule about the really important things in life.

Mr. Brown's precept for December was: Fortune favors the bold.
Which basically means that good things happen to those who do something bold or brave.

Write at least five sentences about a time in your life when you did something very brave and how, because of it, something good happened to you.

*Remember to use capitals, punctuation, complete sentences, and correct spelling.

One time when I was 9 I got to go fishing for flounder. About a couple minutes later I cought a flounder. I realized that the hook was about to come off. So I decided to jump in but first I felt the water. It was freezing cold but I just jumped in any ways . I quickly grabed the flounder and threw it into the boat. We put it in a bucket and I got back into the boat. they gave me a towel and I wraped up in it. I realized that it was geting dark so we headed back to shore. We ended up eating the flounder the flounder was great.

I went to the starting line and the race began. I ran all of it easily and at the end my parents were very proud of me.

One of the brave things I did once is when I was in India; I went to swim in the river. All of a sudden, a huge wave came over. Because I was only 5, I let the wave carry me. Then I realized that I was close about a meter close to a waterfall. I was about to try to somersault over but a huge bolder hit me instead. I climbed up the rock to see where I was. I was very far from my family. I jumped back into the freezing cold water and pushed as hard as I could. I saw a hand reaching out for me. I knew it was my mom. I yanked on my mom’s hand and she pulled me up onto the surface. I was happy I was safe and my family drove me back home.

Last year I had a baseball tournament in Yakama. It was a tight game. We were only ahead by one. It was the last inning and our opponent was up to bat. We could not let the other team get a run. When the coach asked me to pitch, I knew if I screwed up, the other team was going to win. But I said yes. I didn't want to let my team down. Later, there were two outs and bases were loaded. The batter was at full count. I couldn't let my team down, so I threw a fast strike and the batter missed it. Our team won the game and I was proud of what I did.

When I was five I went on my first bike ride on gravel. We went for three miles. It was really fun! When we went on that first bike ride that was the best we ever had. P.S riding bikes is the best thing ever I ride all the time when I get the chance.

The time I was brave was when I started trying to learn how to roller blade. It was really hard at first. I fell down a lot, but then I got the hang of it and I don't fall down anymore. And now I think it's lots of fun.

Once when I was 8 my dad took my family camping at Sun Lakes were there were rattle snakes. Me or my brother did not want to go outside but we did. I was first we stated picking flowers when I bent down and 5 wasps had stung me on my lower back.I thought it was a rattle snake and ran to our camper screaming and so did my brother. My dad had to take care of my stings. The good thing that came out of that was I had picked some wonderful flowers and got a watermelon popcicle yum! P.S my brother did not get stung he was just scared.

My brave thing was when I was eight years old I went skiing and my family wanted to go on one the hardest and steepest hills on the mountain. We got to the top of the hill I didn't want to look down because it was a long way down. There were a lot of bumps and trees on the path. When I started skiing I went slowly. After a while I started to go faster. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. It was a lot of fun. I got some hot chocolate after words.

This past summer, I traveled to Nebraska. One day my cousins were jumping from my grandfather's tractor onto the trampoline. They asked me to do it, too. I was nervous, but I stood up in the tractor's scooper and jumped right onto the trampoline! My grandfather let me drive the tractor afterwards as a reward. That's the brave thing that I did.

I remember when I was little and I hadn't gone skiing in a long time and my brothers wanted to do a black diamond. I was very scared and I didn't want to do it. but when we were on the trail lift, all my family went off to the black diamond so I followed them. When we got to the top of the hill, I decided to go down with dad. It was really fun once I got down and I couldn't wait do do it again.

When I was four I went to a birthday party. The reptile man was there. There were snakes and lizards. I was brave enough to put a python around my neck. After that night I was never scared of snakes again.
