This is our second time ordering books from Scholastic Book Clubs! Attached are flyers filled with affordable books just right for your child's age and reading level. Kids read more when they choose their own books, so I encourage you to let your child help make selections.

You might remember flipping through the Scholastic flyer when you were in school, eagerly circling your choices, and handing the form to the teacher. Your kids can do the same, but you can also order books online, which is simple, convenient, and saves time. Please see the message from Scholastic below to learn how to order online and how it benefits our classroom.

Reading- In reading, we've been focusing on dictionary skills and increasing our vocabulary.

Writing- Students are learning how to correctly use dialogue in their personal narrative stories.

Math- We are currently working on Unit 3- Multiplication, Number Sentences and Algebra. We have been reviewing and practicing our basic multiplication and division facts. If students have not mastered these, they need to be practicing these at home! This is the ground work for much of the harder math we will be doing later this year.

Social Studies- We have been exploring geography and Washington's 5 regions- Coast, Western Lowlands, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Plateau, and the Okanogan Highlands. Your child is becoming an expert on one of these regions.

New Scholastic catalogs are available for your review. There are two ways to order Scholastic books…

1) The Traditional Paper Way

You receive your Scholastic catalogs, mark your selections on the catalog order form and return the order form, along with your check made out to Scholastic, to the classroom by the deadline noted above. Books will come to the classroom and be sent home with your child.

Or…

2) The Online Way

You receive your Scholastic catalogs as usual then, using the information below, you access the Scholastic Book Clubs Web site and browse the titles online. Choose your books and place your order online using your credit card. Your payment will go directly to Scholastic’s secure server; your books will come to the classroom and sent home with your child. You can order anytime, day or night, up until the order due date noted above.

• SELECT the books you'd like to order.


• SEND your order to our account online by the due date and your child's books will be delivered directly to the classroom, and sent home with your child.


Each month you will receive an email from me notifying you of new catalos for your review, and the due date for orders. The deadline for orders on the current set of catalogs is October 22nd.
